Principle of the Butterfly Check Valve

The butterfly-type check valve is installed in piping systems and primarily serves to prevent backflow of the medium. A check valve is an automatic valve that opens and closes based on the pressure of the flowing medium. Traditionally in China, the most commonly used models have been the H44 flanged swing check valve and the H41 flanged lift check valve. However, these conventional check valves are bulky, create significant fluid resistance, generate high water-hammer pressures when closing, and are difficult to install and maintain—resulting in a relatively short service life.

 

Our company has addressed the issues inherent in traditional check valves by developing and launching the H76 series of double-disc swing-type lug check valves and the H71 series of lift-type lug check valves. These products were designed based on both the U.S. API standard and the German DIN standard, leveraging our company's extensive experience accumulated over many years in valve testing, research, development, design, and manufacturing. After years of successful application across industries such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, power generation, light industry, and food processing—as well as integration into equipment supplied by leading manufacturers—these valves have consistently delivered outstanding performance and earned high praise from users.

 

Butterfly Check Valve: Structural Features

1. It has a short structural length—only 1/4 to 1/8 of that of a traditional flanged check valve.

2. Compact in size and lightweight, weighing only 1/4 to 1/20 of a traditional flanged check valve;

3. The valve disc closes rapidly, resulting in low water-hammer pressure;

4. Can be used for both horizontal and vertical pipelines, making installation convenient;

5. Smooth flow channels with low fluid resistance;

6. Quick response and excellent sealing performance;

7. Short valve stem travel and minimal valve-closing impact force;

8. Overall structure is simple, compact, and aesthetically designed;

9. Long service life and high reliability.
