Additionally, it requires low operating torque, making it easy to operate and enabling quick on-off actions. As a result, this valve has become one of the fastest-growing valve types over the past decade or so. The manual flange ball valve evolved from the plug valve, with its closing member designed as a spherical body that rotates 90° around the valve stem’s axis to achieve opening and closing functions. Floating ball valves are primarily used in pipelines for cutting off, distributing, and redirecting fluid flow. They find extensive applications across various industries, including chemical manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and food processing; power generation systems such as hydroelectric, thermal, and nuclear plants; municipal and industrial water supply, heating, and gas distribution networks; agricultural irrigation and drainage systems; and metallurgical operations. When the ball rotates 90 degrees, it should fully expose its spherical surface at both the inlet and outlet, effectively blocking the flow.
